When did you first move abroad and why?

It’s a terrible feeling to wake up one day and realise that you have absolutely nothing to do. I was about 55 when that happened, and I was working as a freelance journalist in South Africa. Then the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the country, so there was no travel and no theatre. So I analysed my options and hatched a genius plan to move overseas and teach conversational English to business people in Santiago.
