Artists in this movement emphasized spontaneity, freedom of expression, and a rejection of traditional artistic techniques. Their works often had a childlike, primitive style, drawing inspiration from folk art, outsider art, and mythology.

The CoBrA Protected content . Although Antwerp was not one of the founding cities of the movement, the museum offers an important venue for the appreciation of CoBrA art in Belgium, helping to promote its legacy. It has no regular opening hours, visits needs to be requested in advance, but they are always guided.
